Anybody running the NGK AFX wideband setup? I just bought one and after doing a few searches online and other forums a lot of ppl think it’s one of the top/the best for the cost. Also how often do u need to do a free-air recalibration on these? One thing I didn’t seem to like was the fact that u need to get a ‘special’ bosch/ngk o2 sensor if the current one goes out, is that true?

I will be getting one soon. The free air calibration is just as it states. It should not be left in the exhaust when doing this.

Well with any wideband you need a special o2 sensor or else it would not be a wideband.

I feel like it is the best out there. Especially from what I hear. It's accurate and reliable. Two very important things.

How much did you pay for you'rs.

thanks for the feedback. what i meant about the o2 sensor is, since i have a plx(crappy from my opinion) if the sensor goes out i'd need to pick up another bosch lsu o2 sensor or just get one from the 05 turbo beetles. from what i read for the ngk afx, the adapter/connector piece is different from the universal connector pieces on the market, meaning i would have ot buy directly from ngk or the ngk sensor itself.

or heres the exerpt:
Description

Bosch LSU Wideband O2 Sensor ( UEGO ) with NTK/NGK Connector for NGK Powerdex AFX

About this sensor: The Bosch UEGO Sensor with NTK/NGK Connector is the recommended replacement sensor for the NGK Powerdex AFX and is the same sensor that NGK packages with the Powerdex AFX. This wideband o2 sensor combines low cost with high accuracy and long sensor life. This excellent combination is exactly why NGK chose this sensor to ship with the NGK Powerdex AFX! This sensor has been modified by adding the NTK/NGK connector to work with the NGK Powerdex AFX and will not work in any other application.

I have been using the NGK AFX wideband for a few years and it has worked great. It is a very simple setup and I bought it primarily because it is more portable than others out there and I wanted it to use for tuning cars other outside of my own. It doesnt have the glitz that other gauges has but it does work great. I have mine connected to my HPT pro cable so I can data log with it. It took a while to set up but was worth the hassle and once you start tuning WB you never want to do WOT tuning without one once you see what is really going on.
