anyone replace the strut mounts on a 96?

I need to replace the strut mounts on my 96 Grand Prix SE and I've never worked on a car with a strut type suspension before....just shocks/coils on RWD cars. Is the bearing included with a strut mount?


I'm told I need a "strut bearing plate" and figure that's what it is.

I've also been told there are special tools for W body cars do remove any strut components....would anyone care to enlighten me on those? Is it doable without them, albeit probably harder?

never heard on that,
just always took the top 3 nuts off and the 2 at the bottom and pulled it out

the bearing is part of the strut mount.

the only thing special youll need is a spring compressor so you can take the strut mount off without the spring killing you.

so MONROE Part # 901921 would have the bearing in it?
