Anyone install transmission drain plugs?

I'm looking to purchase a dorman trans pan. I heard that it doesn't have the magnet at the bottom of the pan. Can I take it out the original?

I just converted my spaee pan to drain plug myself. It had a holw so i figured y not

I used rock auto they list the pan for the GXP which is the same exact transmission...

Here it is installed.

I was think of adding that Dorman pan (pn#265-814) with the drain plug on my '08 GP. I also thought it would be smart to add a FilterMag TM180 on the outside of the pan, so when I drain it later between filter changes I can remove the magnet and hopefully get some of the metal shavings to flow out through the drain plug along with the fluid.
