Anyone install a Viper system?

I just ordered a refurb Viper 5701 and downloaded the install manual, so I should be set, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has installed (or had professionally installed) a Viper security/remote start system in their 04+. Curious if there's anything extra I need for the install other than basic splice/soldering equipment and materials. Will probably be installing it with my friend's assistance (he's gonna be my lackey lol) either late this coming week or the week following, any help is appreciated.

I had the 5901 installed on my 08... but I had Bestbuy do it. I know for mine, I went ahead and ordered the stand alone shock sensor and it made it better.

The stock FOBS will still work on my car and arm and disarm the alarm as well. I also noticed that if the door gets opened it activates the Viper and the Stock horn and lights as well.

IDK how involved it was, but I also had remote start with mine, idk if you are planning on doing that too or not.

They mounted the computer on the driver side right behind that removable panel.

I would never let the punks at Best Buy touch my car. I know not everybody that works there is a non-professional, but at my particular Best Buy pretty much everybody is incompetent. I'm too cheap to pay for a professional install anyways.

And what do you mean about the shock sensor making it better? Thanks for the computer location btw, I'll probably put mine there.

My Bestbuy has guys that a good to go.

This Amazon.com: Install Essentials 504D Double Guard Stinger Shock Sensor: Car Electronics

The stock sensor is in the computer, and the computer gets mounted to a stout, durable part of the car, so the car absorbs most of the shock before it reaches the sensor. With this external sensor you cant mount it to a wiring harness, ie Mid dash area where mine is behind the radio. So then the harness moves easier and can be set more or less senistive.

I did my own install on the 00 Regal I have. Overall it wasn't bad, but likely you'll need a module for the key etc on the starter part of the deal.

the12volt.com may have most of the wiring info you need for your car.

Already been there, done that ;) I've got the install manual and the BCM wiring diagram for my car. I kinda figured I would need a bypass module, but I have yet to actually spend time looking for one. If you know of a good one that doesn't require you to keep a key in the car you should lemme know, because I only have one spare and no valet key.

I never looked into them. Mainly because my car was the last year of VATS. Bypassed at the BCM. No one is stealing an 11 year old Regal and expecting a Viper with bypassed vats.

Well I did it guys. Idk how, but I did it. After a little less than a total of 17 hours of prep time, research time, driving to the store time, shopping time, eating time, errand time, break time, pee time, and install time, my 5701 is installed and functional. Now if only my immobilizer bypass unit would get here...

If anyone needs help with something like this just lemme know and I can halp. I found it extremely difficult to find 04-07 (08 is different apparently) wiring diagrams that would help me, so I had to just wing it a lot of the time. Had to use a 98 GP wiring guide as a sort of reference material. Ugh...
