Im trying to polish my stock exhaust tips but I dont want to take them off the car because i cant weld them back on myself. Anyone done this before and have pics and also doing so without messing other things up? like the back bumper paint. Thanks

Stock tips? Just hit the ends with some sandpaper.
Start at 200 grit if you can, if its built up you may need to go lower. Keep going higher and higher grit til you have the results you want.

Just the tips, inlay I photoshopped.

got a dremal with a sand paper bits??

That works the best and take like 5 min a side.

Otherwise, just grab some 200 grit, then some 800 grit then 1000 if you want, and start sanding, wet sanding works really wwell, then hit it with some polish and your done.

end result

So, I gotz a question....could you sand the tips down then paint them a certain color like....ohh I don't know....chrome? I can't imagine the tips getting hot enough to cause harm to the paint, but for some reason I think it'd look kinda cool.

Ok, so scratch that idea, but could one sand down the inside of the tips to get the same look as the outside rim? I think that would look cooler than having the black and polished look.

I've got a dremel and a couple hours after school in which I could probably show those tips a thing or two.

That's the conclusion I came to. They may look good for some time, but there gonna look like crap again. Im planning on just gettin some nice s/e tips and call it a day! Not even gonna waste my time tryin to clean em.

Well I did the outer lip and as much as i could inside with the dremel. I still need to get a little finer sand paper than 800. Looks pretty good though.
