Anyone else have this problem?

I dont know if this is just my GP or all of them but a lot of different keys can unlock my door. Two of my friends, both with different cars unlocked my door. A cavalier key fits in there perfectly. Is this just me or is anyone else having this problem?

I honestly don’t know what the chances are of that happening. But I do know from a conversation with a locksmith a couple years ago, the ignition is mainly secured by the Pass3 chip. Not the physical key itself, apparently GM may have went to far with this.:th_nervous:

I've heard of people walking up to the wrong car, unlocking it, starting it, then realizing "Oh ****... this isn't my car." Cavalier, so no pass key but regardless, thats a little sad...

When i was working as an auto inspector for leased GM vehicles, i learned that there is like a 1 in 17 chance that your key will work in another car.
Good move GM :th_scratchhead:
