Any Tips on track runs?

I have never ran my Comp G at the track and I want to this year. Are there any threads, posts or almost a how to and what to expect?? I think Norwalk Ohio has an open race day on Wednesdays and some Fridays. I don't want to go there unprepared and look like an idiot. Thanks in advance for any pointers!!

Air the tires down some, foot brake to 1,500-2,000 and let it eat once you want to go. Wheel spin needs to kept to a minimum or it'll be a slow time.

14-15 second pass if all stock.

I'm a little worried with the start light timing as I have never had to launch using one besides the street lights . :) I guess the first time will be a big learning experience.

drop tire pressure to 18 or 20 psi. 18 works better for me.

if you've watched drag racing you should have a clue how to line up, roll into the staging lights, one lights means your almost there, 2 lights stop, when you or the other car stage last, the tree will drop in a few seconds. on the last yellow light GO!

i hold the brake and get on the gas giving it as much gas as it will take standing still on the brakes, like 2200 rpm ish you loading it up.

then let the brake go and ease into it.

you'll get at least 3 runs like most places, so you get to f it up good the first time and get better each run.

If you aren't "racing" you do not have to go on the green light. The time doesn't start untill you break the beams.

You can wait at the tree for a few extra seconds if you wish. This is what I would do you so can leave on your own time and try to control the car better.

you cant see the tree, but you can see them light up. the two yellows on my side, then the yellows got brighter when the other car staged.

this was the best launch and time ive gotten to date. 14.3. as you can see it dont shift to 3 rd till the finish line, so ive dropped my shift times lower hoping i break into the 13's.

Nice, Thanks for the help Guys!! ill try to get a hold of a go pro before I go. I'm going to go either early or mid September. I have an air cast on my left foot for a couple more weeks. I will go a couple times before the season ends. I dont need a helmet or anything?? I think that's only over a certain power range?

most states you need a cheap helmet if your slow like over 14. under a 14 most track make you have a snell rated helmet.

most tracks have 5 dollar helmet rentals for the slow guys 14's and up. no snell rentals where i go.
