I have a 2000 GTP . just put a new motor in.. every thing was running well for about 10 miles then i noticed it was smoking like hell so i pulled over. and the dip stick was pushed out. I checked the oil and started it back up and the dip stick pop out again and my oil pressure gauge was reading 0. And when it was running like shyt.. I let it sit for a little bit started it again. and i had oil pressure. but it was running really rough and its hard to start. and its smoking blue out the tail pipes.
Oh and when i say it didnt have any oil pressure that was according to my mechanical oil pressure gauge.. The little light never came on Any one have any ideas on what it could be?
 


blue smoke is burnt oil, which is oil leaking into a cylinder. oil leak could cause a loss in oil pressure. The engine running rough could be a misfire which is from the leaking oil fouling out the spark plug/s

did you put this motor together yourself?
 
I know blue smoke is burnt oil but i dont get how i didint have any oil pressure and the dipstick was poping out but then i let it sit started it back up and i had pressure?.

And yes i put it together my self. all brand new gaskits and every thing is torqued down to there specs
 
How did you set the oil ring & compression ring(s) orientation during piston installation?

Or, oil jacket clog and / or head gasket leak.

I replaced rear seal. oil pan. head gasket . LIM/UIM and valve gaskets. I didn't mess wit the timing or any thing.. So all gaskets but front seal..

congrats u chipped a piston. did u check all the plugs... i took out 1-3-5 when i did mine :) 2 broken and one smashed to the elctrode.
 
Yeah pretty shyty the motor lasted 20miles i wounder if it could have any thing to do with the Tuned pcm i got from 3800 performance
 




should have warranty if its from a decent junkyard... kinda dirty but junkyards make a ton of money... if they warranted it... put stock airbox on and stock pulley.. tell them its messed up.
then get some headers :)
 
I know i wish i would have done the swap sooner. i bought the motor and didn't put it in tell a year latter and it was like a 90 day warranty so im SOL with that. i guess ill just have to buy another one ;/
 
damn dude that sucks... i feel ur pain. i toasted my motor, replaced it... week later i had issues with oil pressure and spun a bearing. i was sick to my stomach.
 
Yeah it really sucks. I don't know what I'm going to do yet I'm not sure if I wanna put another motor in it or part it out.. I emailed 3800 preformence to try to. Get the programing script. and they email me back asking what mods I've done. Ill post the emails when I get home to my computer and I'm on ny blackberry and I can't really easily post the emails lol.
