Any musicians on here?

Just curious if anyone else on here plays an instrument for a hobby or maybe even a job? I've been drumming for 14 years now. Went to school for it for a couple of years then realized there or 0 music teaching jobs and got out. While I enjoy playing set the most I know how to play classical snare, timpani and mallet instruments as well as all the little things like tambourine and triangle. Also for school had to learn all the band instruments like trumpet, sax, clarient etc. but am definitely not as good at those as I am drums/percussion. Here's my little set up. :th_biggrin2:

Double Bass? Who are your influences? What style do you play? I've been playing for over a decade as well

I've got an old Slingerland 5-piece kit from the 70s,DW pedal and Zildjian Zs. 24 ride,20,18,16 crash&15 rock hats Monster 24kick,15ridetom and 18&20floors
I haven't played in quite awhile.
Cool rotors, that must be loud as hell....I loved putting plates on the snare upside down, sounded cool as hell until they broke......helluva mess

Titanfan, that's cool stick with those lessons that's the best way to learn.

jayroca, any pictures of your setup? I play in a rock/metal band now for fun but can play it all. In school I was in a jazz/latin band and that was a blast. I actually enjoy playing jazz the most but there's not too many guys around here that want to form a band doing that and not many gigs either. As far as influences go there's too many to name haha. Love Buddy rich and Max Roach of course then there's Jeff 'tain' Watts. Metal Vinnie Paul (have a concert used stick he through into the audience), chris adler, Lars Ulrich even though he has a lot of haters.

Spazz, that kit sounds exactly like what I want my next kit to be. 70's slingerlands are amazing plus you got the huge kick and floor toms. Must be a blast to play on. I had never thought of the plate idea either haha.

I wanna learn how to play the drums so bad!!

jayroca, nice setup I like the snare. And sometimes less is better haha. When playing a gig where I don't need everything I'll bring a simple 4 piece but when at home practicing why not have it all set up right haha. Also those are some great drummers you've mentioned Jo Jo Mayers dvd he released several years ago is great!

Shiftingshaddow, that's some good sounding stuff you've written I like it! My brother and I (he plays bass) are wanting to get a christian rock/metal band going to write some music that you don't typically hear in that genre.

Courtney, drive to NY and I'll teach ya haha

Hey, thanks! Too bad we live so far apart. I'd help ya out maybe.

Nice setup dude!
Ive been playing guitar for about 14ish years. Im in a band currently.
I dont have any pics saved but my main rig is a American strat through a Hotrod deluxe and about 7 pedals. Absolutely love the sound.

Post up some pieces man. Interested now with Vinnie and Chris. I still think Chris is one of the best drummers ever, along with the rest of the band with unbelievable talent.

I've been playing guitar for about 7-8 years. Never been in a band, never had any formal musical training. I've just taught myself from tabs and chords. I dont play much anymore. Always just played for myself, learning songs I thought would be fun to play. I play rock/metal stuff.

My main guitar is a Jackson Warrior WRMG with the active pickups and the transparent black over forrest green colour. I'm at work atm so I dont have any pics but its basically the same guitar as this one here. Except I dont have the custom stuff. Same paint, style, and pickups though. Its also been signed by the entire Opeth band during the heritage tour (they're my favourite band).

I also have a red fender strat thats kinda beat up, which was my first guitar. I use a nice Marshall tube style amp. Its a great amp, I dont really have much in the way of additional effects pedals and such though.

Thanks Blackflag and that sounds like a nice set up!

Negativeone, I actually don't have any recordings now that I think about it. Have never bothered to record any gigs or anything like that. And I agree all the guys in LOG are just stupid good. If I could only be half as good I'd be happy haha.

Max, that's a nice looking guitar! I took lessons for about 9 years but have always taught myself songs like you. It's real good to be able to play by ear. I've met guys that are great technical players but can't learn anything by ear. I can't help but laugh at those guys a little.

Scotty, I knew guys on here would like that haha. I actually got the idea from listening to bands like slipknot. They have so much industrial metal clanking sounds last time I got my brakes done I took a rotor home. Only bad part is everytime I hit it a million little pieces of rust fall off haha.
