Not really, do your homework. the JL -W7's are in a class of their own.

If I had the money for them I would have a set. but I dont, so I built my setup by trial and error. But its not just the subs.... to run them properly you need allot of watts from a good amp

I'm thinking of going under a max of $500, and for personal aesthetic reasons i feel like getting two sub speakers if possible lol

look @ some used ones... you can get full setups cheap sometimes, ppl "had a kid", or "new car" so they get rid of full systems, look on craigslist or kijiji, the only hard part is if you dont know much about them you could get screwed over easily. test everything befor buying!
