Anti-theft or other issue?

Just got home and went upstairs, forgot something at the store and tried to start up my car (04 GTP). Didn't do a thing. Electronics seem to work fine. Won't crank or anything. There's also a fast whir behind the radio/clock cluster that lasts less than a second when I try to start the car. Is this a theft deterrent or something else? I literally was driving 20 min ago. :th_tongue2:
 


dead starter maybe, you hear a click in the dash when the key is turned.

try the old hammer to the starter, few shots to the body and if it cranks you know its the starter.
 
Alright so I did that and it still didn't start. Probably is the starter. Does it usually just go out like that without warning
 
yeah, they can just quit life. if it seems like it had not been turning over as fast in the last few months it could be a sign.

you can take it off and bench test it with jumper cables before buying a new one.

if you do need a new one google your town and alternator and starter re builders. the local re builders tend to charge much less then a parts store, and you got a local warranty with the guy who rebuilt it.
 
Hmm okay. Thanks for the tips. Would oil soak or something like that be a possibility as to why it's now dead as well or are the components completely sealed off
