Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Hi everyone, I just bought a 2000 3.8L. It's a "kid car" but you know who gets to do the work on it. :th_shakinghead1:

The last GP I dealt with was my wife's 1970 :th_biggrin2: , which she eventually sold for.. $50. :th_shakinghead2: . This car's a bit different of course  .

Anyway, my first two questions will be:

1) What's involved in getting the MAF sensor off on this?

2) What does everyone consider the best aftermarket manual for the 2000 GP? I've always preferred Haynes, but they don't yet have one for this model :th_wtf: .

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums. Happy to have you here. With the maf, look on top of the tb and you'll see what will look like a black cap with 2 star tip screws. Take the screws out ant the maf will pop out. As for the manual, not sure where to get one. I want to say when I googled for one, I seen some for a 2000, but can't remember the site.

Welcome!

Call your local GM stealership and ask them for the number to call and order a Grand Prix manual. It's 3 books that run about $110. Will have everything you need to know in there.

Thanks again!

This is getting OT for this forum, but I discovered yesterday that this car still has dex cool in it. Holy cow, what a mess. I took the cap off and found what appears to be a rust milk shake. I can't believe this car hasn't been overheating.

Thanks! Yeah, the last Chilton's I bought, many years ago, wasn't very good. Haven't bought one since. Haynes tells me the manual for the '00 Grand Prix should be available this December. I guess I'll try to hold off. I could buy the full factory set from Helm, but I think that's overkill for what I hope to need.
