"ANOTHER" Extremely Hot AMP

Never hurts lol. I havent really had to deal with hot amps. I think if you get it close to correctly tuned it will help a lot. Then you may take it in and ask if they can double check your work.

Lucky you, i still have this huge feeling that part of my problem is that i could be needing a higher watt kit.

No havent melted 1 or anything. But do you see my last amp? It was pretty small trying to power up my subs. I got a bigger 1 to see what that would do, got me more power but that amp gets hotter quicker...
 


No offence and people will get mad about this but...Get a good amp and this won't happen. Hence the reason you have to turn the gain all the way up to make it sound good.

That Sony amp is $99.00 on Ebay. It has specs of 400wx1 RMS at 4 Ohms and 380wx2 MAX power at 4 Ohms.

Have you checked the ground?

uhm i would check for voltage drop when playing your stereo. loads being on bad ground can cause heat also so check everything.upgrade the engine/chasis grounds along with a run from alternator to battery
 
How do you have your subs wired? If you wired them too low of an impedance(ie parallel ) then that could be your problem right there.
