Analog to digital DIC

I have a 97 GT with H.U.D. I have a 97 digital DIC and want to swap, I read all the write ups and am just wondering has anyone every tried just swapping without spicing and all? Will it fry anything? I looked and can't find another connector for this behind current one I even tried removing the radio

ahh thanks 5 fingers then I must not be understanding the article correctly because to me is seems like I am just matching colors and using all the same wires
 
Finnally found the connector and hooked it up. It was behind the Glove box wrapped in foam so it just looked like wires. No splicing, no muss, no fuss. YEAH!!!
