Seems like a while ago someone noticed a ''touchable'' difference in S/C temps when they switched from the regular S/C oil to a synthetic oil. Wondering if anyone had tried using anything. Just dont want to mess anything up. I mean is supercharger oil like gear oil or motor oil or what? seems pretty thick but im not sure.

Anyone?:th_thumbsup-wink:

It was Scotty that talked about the snout being cooler after using Amsoil in place of SC oil. I think he was still doing some testing and whatnot. But maybe he will chime in...

I had heard that the GM SC oil was synthetic.

I'm currently working with a local company that is interested in producing a oil specific to our needs of our superchargers. It will meet and far exceed GM/Eatons oil hands down. With hopes that it be at the same list price that GM sells it for or less cause its locally made by a big name company here.

Pretty much I brought them a bottle of new, and a bottle of used so they could see it under a used real world condition, and they saw much room for improvement from those samples.

Guess next plan of attack would be in house testing, and later real world testing in daily driven GTP's. Might be calling upon some samples in different areas of the USA, meaning different climates etc.

But thats just what I'm working on....

so what kind of oil or weight of oil should i buy from amsoil???? gear oil? heavy weight motor oil? come on what do you guys think????

correct me if im wrong but dont they have different weights of gear oil? if so what weight? thanks man

Yeah I believe they do. I can't think of which to use directly off of the top of my head, but I'll look and see if the bottle is still somewhere around the garage later on if no one has figured it out by then.

ok so you have actually used this before your self? perfect. That was what i was looking for someone that has used it and didnt have any problems. I would appreciate it if no one chimes in if you could do that for me. just dont want to mess anything up.

Yeah, I had it in my Gen 3 blower, and I'll put it back in this Gen V when the time comes around to change it.

I'm pretty sure thats what INTENSE and ZZP sell in their bottles as well since it's not the same color as the GM Supercharger oil and is the same color as the gear oil.

As many cars as we work on out at the shop, and as many blowers as we pull apart it's not ideal to be going and buying the GM stuff at the price it sells for and the limited quantity the dealers have around this area.

Called my buddy out at the shop and he says the stuff we're using is Synchromesh fluid from Pennzoil but the above picture is what your looking for.
