Amp question



if its just for a sub and amp, all you do is solder a lever output converter from a rear speaker, then run the rca cables from the level out put to the amp.

i just replaced my speakers, and added a single 12 sub and amp to my radio, the sound is night and day.
 
No. Only connect the speaker/s you wish to amplify. The above suggestion is a good one if you're sticking with the stock stereo.

Line output converter. Basically allows RCA connections for amplifiers by simply tapping a stock speaker wire. A nice solution for those who wish to retain their stock head units.

So if I already have a aftermarket head unit with RCA connectors I don't
need to buy this convertor?
 
correct. but you need rca cables long enough to reach the hu to the amp. most amp install kits have this included, the power wire, amp signal wire, and rca cables, for around 20 and up.


im not sure how other guys got power to the trunk, but i went off the fuse box bolt, took the cowl off, and in the left corner drilled a hole, fed the wire in and it dropped under the dash, then i ran it along the side of the carpet, took the back seal out and run it under the side of the seat to the trunk.
 
Okay. And finally, to connect the amp the subs you use the Speaker out connectors? And what if im wiring in two subs
 
if your amp is a 2 ch amp, most are at least that much, you run out put wire off the amp to each sub. aka left and right.


search you tube, theres a bunch of vids showing how to wire all this up. its pretty simple as i always feared this crap myself, till i researched it, and then did it. pretty simple for the most part.
 
I pretty much understand it now. So all I need to wire to the amp is power from the battery, a ground, RCA from the stereo and a control wire from the battery
 


your radio may have a amp signal wire on it already, read your HU manual for that. if not, i used a add a fuse to the wiper fuse for the amp signal wire. if the signal wire's power stays on with the key off, the amp will stay on all the time. and kill your battery.

that being said, some amps need a different signal sent to them to turn on. a simple 12 volt line wont turn some on.


and yes, it sounds like you got it all figured out now.
