can any body help im just trying to find where i can pass the power cable from the batterey to the interior ?

Also i have a problem with my stereo its only on when the headlights or fog lights are on. I changed it from the stock ,but i guess i didnt wire it right
anything will help thanks

there is a gromet in the passenger floorboard run it through there. as for the wiring go back and double check every thing first and then go from there.

yes peel back ur carpet in the passenger floorboard. u should see the hole with wires in it. go around to ur engine bay, find the hole, stick a screwdriver in it to stretch the rubber boot, and there u have it. and Yeah, double check ur wiring. the radio should go off when door is opened, just like factory.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread here but, I've got a 2002 and on the firewall side of this grommet there is a rubber hosing that the wires travel into.

Are you guys suggesting that I should cut this?

So i take it its a very short boot then? I'm looking to run two 4 guage cables through it so stretching 3 feet of rubber while its on the car would be kinda difficult.

well I just stretched mine cause I wanted it to keep its purpose of keeping my firewall sealed from the cabin of the car. I mean its ur car, do what u have to, It was a tight lil hole for me, maybe u can make it though.

hell even get a short piece of PVC pipe cram it in the hole and feed thru the pipe then remove when done, problem solved!

dude i had this same problem. that thick hard piece of rubber on the floorboard side will wiggle out of there. then when u get it out just simply poke a hole in the remaining grommet and attatch your power wire to the object you cram thru the hole and you will see it in the engine compartment. this is the only way youu are gonna get it thru. once you get the line ran simply pull your back seats down via the strap in the top corner of your seats. i mounted my amp on the back of the seat this makes easier to get to the amp and also better aesthetically.

wow i dint expect to be an essay in here lol

but thanks guys for the info

anybody else wonderin the rubber thing is cut into like 2 lil squares but you canttell cuz its so tight and its kinda hard to see it from the ingine cuz its like curving in but just tick somthin through then you should see it ..

Get some pliers and pull that piece out of that rubber piece on the floorboard that's holding that wire. Get ya a long screwdriver nd tape your power wire to it. Cram it thru the whole and reach down and grab that sucker and hook it to the battery

Its done. Best part was I pushed about a foot of cable into the engine compartment only to have it all end up on the ground. Out came the coat hanger again...

If you've got a 97-03 I would think you don't need to take the back of the rear seats out, just follow the cables going into the trunk and they should feed right through. No need to even cut the carpet in the trunk.

*Oringinal post removed*

Additional info to use passenger side firewall grommet. (97-03 grand prix)

Use screwdriver to pry INSIDE out. As in inside the black surrounding soft rubber. You can then use pliers if you want to grab the piece and pull it out. You are removing a thick 1 1/2 inch rubber plug with a split in the middle that needs to be removed before running a coat hanger through the firewall grommet.
(note* the split in the rubber piece is connected on far side of the wires so you have to rotate after pulling out to get it off. You will see this very easily)
