Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Amd ftw

I've always liked AMD's performance per dollar. They have the top 10 best performers for the value I believe. Anyways Intel has the best performers out there, they just cost too much for me. I like my Phenom II 940. 3.0GHz @ 4 cores. Looking forward to a nice 3.6GHz 8-core from AMD whenever they come out with their DDR4 platform.

I run whatever I can get for less.

Brand loyalty is stupid.

Best product wins my vote.

X2 Agreed :th_peaceout: I've rocked Intel and AMD, both have strong suits and faults alike.
I just recently bought an AMD XII 565 3.4ghz dual core, cooled by a CoolerMaster Hyper N 520, with an MSI 870A Fuzion mobo and 4gb DDR3 1600mhz ram... Sitting with my GTS250 Nvidia card (omg i know, how awful I crossed Nvidia with an AMD.... o well, bite me) I play most of my games, SCII and WOW at 60+ frames on really high settings, good enough for me and total build over time was at a grand.

The case is a CoolerMaster CM690 with 7x 140mm fans, a 600watt CoolerMaster PowerSupply, a LG dual layer sata DVD burner, and a WD 640gb main sata drive w/1.5tb sata drive for my movie collection, half full... thank you demonoid lol :th_biggrin2:

All was bough thru Frys Electronics... Would have only cost about 600-750 depending on sales if I bought thru Newegg, but I don't like shipping electronics like that, Frys will bench test everything to make sure it works before I leave so I don't get a DOA part, plus I'm not a patient person :th_laugh-lol2:

so how's amd compare to intel these days, GAMING wise?

few years ago when i gamed, amd was for gaming, intel was 'work'. how accurate is that now?

I agree but the only problem with changing is you then have to have two motherboards. I tend to keep a mobo for a long time while changing other internals. As long as new sockets or fitting havent been released.

Anymore its all in how much you want to put into it. For the same $$$ I can match both sides with most likely the same results. Its just flavor and pricing. I like to think you can get more bang for your buck with an AMD system as the processors and mobos tend to run cheaper unless you just go crazy, but performance wise they round about the same anymore

See thats the thing... I can never justify spending money on new hardware basically until they've moved onto a new socket.

i rock both intel and amd. so suck it. both have their pros and cons. i didnt experience bad customer service from either.

current setup: asus p6t deluxe, i7 920 @ 3.5ghz (true spirit cooled), corsair xms 3gb ram 1333mhz, wd1001fals 1tb hdd, evga gtx 260 core 216 sc, cm 690ii adv, corsair hx750

I was going to go with the AMD 6 core until I found the i7 930 at a local computer store in KC for 200 bux picked up. At that point i went Intel on my build. I also found its easier to find Nvidia compatible boards when using Intel chips. AMD owns ATI now so it makes it kinda hard to find a Nvidia AMD board unless you want to spend the cheese.
