Alternator Voltage Booster question

Im thinking about buying one of these from zzp but i was wondering since i dont have the big three in my car yet will the smaller wire be able to handle it? my next question is should i get the big three first? i cant really do both at the same time do to money so i was just wondering if the stock wiring can handle the voltage booster or if i should just do the big three first.(im aiming to get my car to get 30's for gas miliage and im at 26.5 now and i read that this could move it up as much as 2 mpg) so what do you guys think?

If you feel confident with electrical work you can do the volt booster for the price of a diode (less than a buck):

ZZ Performance

I got ZZP's deal so I could easily reverse the mod. I admit I didn't really notice much difference other than my headlights getting a little brighter. In hindsight I'd recommend either the cheap DIY way, or just skip it all together. If you are hoping to gain any mileage, I wouldn't hold my breath. After all the exhaust and intake mods I've done the only thing that has netted me measurable mileage gains was bumping up my timing. YMMV

are there any web sites out there that sell the big three for a good price. if i can get a good enough deal i might be able to do both. idk about the power log though. id really like to but it really is to much money for me since im going to college this fall

Here is what I would do...

1) Make your own intake...for about $50 or so...get 4" PVC Pipe from Lowe's or Home Depot or whereever and slap a filter on it and shove it in the fender...and be done there...
2) 180* Thermostat - $10 or so at a local Auto Parts store...you just gotta ask for it.
3) 3" Downpipe/U-Bend Delete - Bolt-in...or Shorty...if you get a shorty it has to be welded in but they are a lot cheaper
4) You got a dremel tool? Pull of the front manifold and go to town on the imperfections in it...had mine hooked up to a DHP Powertuner before and after...I dropped 1.1* of KR...now if you don't have a dremel...then go buy one...and after your done, take it back and say you didn't need it ;) See...Free :D
5) IF you want to mess with it...get new plug wires and some Autolite 605's.
6) Another free mod is flipping the motor mounts. There is a thread in here about how to do it but I can't find...it is really easy to do though.

i ended up buying a diode to put in it just becasue it only cost me a dollar but when i whent to get it at radio schack they had like a 60 volt 100, 200, and 600 volt 1 amp diode. i just bought 1 60 volt and one 600 volt just becasue they had no idea what i was talking about and i didnt know for sure witch one either. so is it just like a fuse where it can only handle say 60 volts or do i need to keep looking and find a 12 volt one?

can you safely run a stage two with a subwoffer and stuff like that?

Yes, Sometimes there is a little ground feedback though. I overhauled the ground on the car and it cleaned it right up.

I don't remember off the top of my head the size of the diode. But no you don't need a 12 volt. We'll use this as a bump and see if somebody else can help.

come on guys i know you guys have done this mod before which one should i use? will the 1 amp 60 volt one work?

plz help
