Alpine Type S Subs

I'm trying to decide between Type-S and Type-R subs for my car. Type-S are a lot cheaper but I heard the bass doesn't even compare to Type-R. However I'm not looking to make everyone's car around me vibrate I just want deeper bass. Should I shell out a few more bucks or will the Type-S's probably do what I want?

just get on type r in a ported enclosure, youll love it. Your right the s wont compare or come close. Here the issue, what kind of amp you running? power is gonna play into this also.

All depends on your power. Type S's can sound really good, you will just need more of them than you would a type R. I'd compare 1 Type R 12 to 2 12" Type S's. New type S's are pretty sweet. A friend of mine has 8 15's in a 6th order... It hits harder than a m#### F###### regardless of the subs

Yeah I don't understand how 8 15s has ANYTHING at all to do with this, but anyway....

The Type R is going to be a better sub as the new one has been upgraded a bit from the last years models, but depending on power and box the Type S even though it is a step down is still a decent sub.

The power isn't really as much of a question, but how good are the skills of whoever is designing and building the box for the sub is a question that does need to be asked.

Because they are the new type s's. The new type s's are beastly compared to the generation prior to it. Their almost like the type r a couple years ago. For the price and sound you'd get out of a sealed box, I'd probably do 2 12" type s in a sealed box
