Ajar driver side door erorr

I have a 2008 GP and I am getting a ajar alarm on the driver door when I put the car in drive and the doors lock. Interior lights go off I just get the alarm on the screen. When I clear it it comes back. If I put the car in park and and then lock the door I get the alarm. Is there anything I can check to see what the issue is and how I Can check it thanks.

Here is a pic of the alarm

Clean the contacts on the door. Should be a little section of exposed metal and it probably has junk all over it due to the weather it sees. Either that or locate the door switch for that side and spray a little WD-40 at it and see if that clears it up. Could have junk in it as well. Not sure on where the switch is at but usually they are just a pin sticking out and the door closes on it. If the switch goes bad then it will do what you have there.

wow that sensors is in the door latch.......

you'll need to take the inside door skin off, then if the bolts are on the inside remove them, and the linkage rodd to the door handles.

if the bolts are on the out side life will be easier for sure as far as re aligning it so the door shuts and locks right. most of the time if you put the new part right were the old one was, (use a marker to out line the old one,) then remove it. everything should line up the first time.

That's what I was wondering the sensor is in the door latch itself? When I remove the door skin im assuming it pops out or is there any bolts holding it, I should see then bolts holding the door switch on the inside. You mentioned it may be from the outside? Outside from?

if you open the door, that lock striker should be what your changing. some have bolts on the out side to hold the part, some are are in the inside.

this silver part is what the post locks onto on the side of the door. its all you see when you open the door, the rest is in the inside of the door.

Okay so I guess that is the part I will be changing if it still says AJAR after I cleaned it and sprayed it. It did go off but came right back.

remove the door skin, and look in there, theres a few rods that hook onto the strike plate. they come right off once the part is loose.

So I do not need to buy the Door Actuator and the Latch together then? Dealer said its all one piece which is about 100 dollars more than just getting the door actuator.

if they sell it separately on line you can change it. dealer likes to make a cluster of parts and call it an assembly. then charge more money.

it dont take much to get the door skin off to look at it. i say take a look at yours, see if you can make heads or tails of whats up in there.

I can get it just the one part online, do I just pull it off skin no screws. I tried to find screws and nothing. Also would you know where is the fuse located to pull out for the ajar error. Want to pull out the fuse until I get the part in

the door skin is held on by tree clips, (the 1 sides and bottom) if you got a thin puddy knife you stick in in between the door and skin, slide it till you hit something, thats the push tree clip, just pry it up, then work your way around. once the clips are out, you lift the skin up and off the top.

ive not taken a gp skin off, but my regal has a plastic cover on the door arm rest, under it is 2 screws. then another in the door handle area. you'll have to un plug the window switches to. best to pop that off and unplug it first.

then theres a sheet of plastic, dont tear it, peal it off carefully, it stops door drafts. if it wont stick back tape or glue it back tight to the door.

theres a tons of vid on you tube for a reference, they all come off about the same way.

Thanks just looked up a video a day it looks pretty easy, I will be purchasing the actuator part this week but I'm pretty sure I can replace the part without replacing the latch also. Do you know what fuse I can pull for now to stop that annoying ajar sound.

Will have a look at it just not sure what the name of it will be called. Would it be the same fuse for the internal lightsÉ

I replaced the part over the weekend, it wasn't to hard just it was tuff getting to it. Anyways no more ajar thanks again scottydoggs
