air to air intercooler

Yeah.

Boosted and unintercooled is so stupid.

Oh wait, Audi does that with their new S4? Or so I think.

audi does that with the old s4 kind of they use a A2A IC on the B5 S4, but you didnt answer my question could i assemble all the pieces of an IC and build one my self?

With enough time and money you could do anything but no, the ZZP intercooler won't be a starting point for any a2a setup. When you compare extra time/ money spent versus extra power gained over an equivalent A2W setup you're coming out backwards. :(

Misread his OP. Looking for A2W.

I'd actually suggest the WBS kit over the ZZP kit.

If you can stand the odd mounting position of the FMHE from either kit that is.

I'd suggest a small rad instead of a vendor FMHE.

oooooohhh... Yeah you're not going to do anything custom that's going to come close and you're talking about adding a lot of extra piping which presents a whole new host of problems. Just get our super cheap intercooler kit and call it a day! :D

cheaper than other options.

and if you cant afford $1000 in mods you shouldnt be modding. $1000 isnt a lot of money.

i can afford $1000 in mods my mod list is gonna and is already costing $2600 i just dont wanna put too much money into a FWD automatic car

$1000 is not cheep man

It's all relative... Compared to A2W kits for other platforms, it's super cheap. Compared to our competitors, it's cheaper but it's the cheapest when you compare it to the time spent wasted trying to make an A2A setup for less money.

No but really, there is no bigger bang for your buck as far as horsepower per dollar goes, than an intercooler. The only better way to spend your money would be to throw a turbo on. But I dig either way. It's easy to nickle and dime your way up to $2600 but another $900 on top of that is a chunk of change.

I think it would be bad ass to have an A2W under the blower, feeding an A2A LIM setup, then after the FMIC it'd run through an icebox A2w before returning into the engine.
TRIPLE COOLED!

Holy brainstorming. Shouldn't you include some liquid nitrogen in there somewhere?

alright to be clear i do not want to build a A2A IC i was mealy asking if its been done, yes 1k is cheap compared to some other option but really its not in my budget and i dont think my trans could handle it plus other mods im scared to do a 300hp build even though its a built trans

Look up A2A L67 on google.

well thats "it" yes but the "it" is not that easy... from seeing the piping done on one I wouldn think there would be an easy way to keep the air from heating right back up as it goes into the LIM...

plus you just make that much more of a pain to chase vac leaks...

to me it (with the given examples) youre gonna be closer to ambient with the W2A than the A2A either way you look at it... Ive measured the temp from my heat exchanger to my core on a 90* and it was a consistent 8* above ambient through about an our of mixed driving...

W2A may not be the perfect setup... but its the best option for what we got right now....
