looking at k and n air filters, is it worth making the upgrade them or sticking with the stock air box in 04 gtp? If so could anyone point me in the right direction in getting a k and n that isnt soo expensive? thanks

you could always make your own cai. if you want to make one i have the shield and pcm plate from my old k&n cai off my old 04' GTP?

thats ok i dont need yours, thanks though. so where could i buy i heat shield at or cant you jus buy the sheild?

If you go the short ram route the most expensive part will be the filter, the rest is just some chump change in PVC, couplers, and clamps that you can find in most hardware stores. if you search the forum a little bit there is a few threads on different DIY intakes.

Best, Lenny

there is an ungodly amount of intake threads all asking them same thing

make this for $70

R2C filters
I asked them how long their filters last, as well as why they use a cylinder with a covered end instead of an open end like K&N or S&B.

Thanks for your inquiry.

With respect to filter longevity, the filters will last as long as your car in street performance applications.

In evaluating conical filter performance, internal volume within the filter is more important in terms of airflow. In testing, the open end conical did not perform as well.

english translation: "our filter will last till you break something. the bigger the better, also the open ended ones dont work so good."

at least thats what i got out of it

Before you make your final decision, please take a look at the short ram air intake we offer (it has been reviewed very favorably on this forum).

Check out the AutoMatCentral subforum for the details.
