Air filter or CAI?

Wait are you implying that the cone air filter isnt good for an engine?

Well....I use a K&N RE-0870. When I took it out of the box, I was thinking, schmmmweet, big sexy filter.

Then I held it up to the light. You could almost read a book looking across it.

the point is to not ingest rodents, rocks, or pieces of wood. dust particles and smaller objects will be tolerated by the motor without a doubt.

Just did this on my 08. Eventually I will take the bendy tube off and put an aluminum piece there.

This is literally removing the air box and slapping this on the end of that tube.

What would be the point of taking the rubber bending tube off and replacing it with an aluminum one? So the airflow isn't slowing down when going through at an angle? How does the cone benefit your car instead of the stock one?

The stock box is very constricting, small opening that gets clogged and what not. And the removing that tube will imo make the air not as, turbulent since it doesnt hit all those ridges.

Second part I agree with, turbulence in your intakes airflow does not equate to a well through up intake setup and would need to be addressed...

First part however...

If I ever was to build an epic sleeper, I'd leave and GUT the factory airbox and replace the rubber tubing AFTER it, as the factory airbox isn't really restrictive...at all.

who needs that when we can have race intakes which highlight the flaws of our poorly designed yet hitachi branded stock TB's?

by restrictive I think I meant that more crap will end up in it, like leaves and grass, etc.
