i have an appointment tomorrow at 8am to have my truck lifted at a suspension shop. well driving to get food tonight i found smoke pouring out from under my hood. looked in there i have a 12 inch hair line crack in the plastic side tank on the radiator. go figure my 2000 silverado wasnt made many years so now i cant even find a used radiator. and now i have to cancel for tomorrow :th_tongue2:

Re: ahhhh damn truck

Check ebay i got a radiator for my aurora for $100 on there. Also if the crack isn't to big rough it up and put jb weld on it. If you lifting your truck you should know some good old fashion red neck engineering. :D

Re: ahhhh damn truck

last rad i got for one of my trucks was like 140 or 160 for a new one. it was a 97 with a auto trans.

and if the tank that broke is on the pass side, that's the trans cooler tank, its under pressure, you don't want JB wield on that, the driver side tank could be a oil cooler, you don't want JB wield on that either.

i got mine here, Radiator Store Inc - Lodi, NJ, 07644 - Citysearch not sure if they ship, but they have warehouses all over jersey now. and have the best prices around.

how high of a lift are you doing? and what size tires are you planning to add? i love lifted trucks.

Re: ahhhh damn truck

thanks everyone got a radiator for 89 dollars with 50k miles

right now the truck sits on 285-65-18 BFG AT with a 2" lift kit
im going to be having another 2-3 inches put on monday at the shop. along with adding a few more leaf springs to the rear
then i can put on my new tires.

i may lift it more but dont want anything radical i may be 6ft but i hate climbing

and silver i meant the body style, from 1999-2002 so it wasn't produced long and there hardly ever in junk yards and if they are there pos work trucks.

Re: ahhhh damn truck

Maybe you said this somewhere and I missed it, but are you doing just a body lift or a full frame lift?
Hopefully you'll post pictures :)

Re: ahhhh damn truck

i dont do body lifts, they mess up everything to me. and stretch things like wires and such.

im doing all suspension, i had my leafs re-arched for 2" now im adding blocks. and my front is getting keys put in.

so ill have a 4" lift and the tires add 1/2" from factory. soon to be more when i get the new tires put on.

then i need to install a push bar. ;) i may use it to. lol. i already modded my lights to go high and low beams on at the same time today. and i need fender flares. as well as an exhaust
ill ad pictures when the lift is done monday

Re: ahhhh damn truck

Good! My boyfriend has a 99 Silverado and is tossing around the idea of body lift, but I don't like them.
So imo, your doing it right lol

Re: ahhhh damn truck

i hate to even say this, but there is a good chance you wont like them tortion bar keys. they make the front end so stiff, and leave very little down travel. so if you hit a good pot hole the truck just drops into it and it hits hard.

i had them on a 03 4x4 gmc 2500 hd, so the 1500 may be softer, but it still just forces the lca lower, and limits the downward travel. and i snapped 2 shocks too.

i think you get the point, i din't like them at all.

i was only able to get a 2 inch lift out of them too. im not sure how you plant to get 4 inches out of them, unless you have 1/2 of a real lift kit with them with new lca's, K drop frame and all that good stuff.

a real full lift kit is down to under 2000 bucks these days for the ifs trucks, thats the way i plan to go next time out.

oh and with the tb keys i was able to fit 33 x 12.5 x 16 bf goodrich a/t i used 2 inch lift blocks in the rear too. my truck had a snow plow prep package and sat higher than most trucks stock so that helped me out some too.

waste of time. seriously if i had to it would only be a 1" body lift. but i try to stay away. its cheap. but the right way is suspension.
