Aftermarket car alarm...help!

Hey guys I just recently purchased an aftermarket car alarm with remote start for my 2002 Pontiac grand prix. It is a viper 5704 alarm system and I had to get a universal bypass module for the vehicle anti theft system. I'm looking for any tips or tricks that you guys can offer me before I do the install and I will use this thread if I have any other issues. So to get things started does anybody know of any good places to get a wiring diagram for the ignition? Something that tells me what color each wire is and what they do and that kinda stuff?

I did not have to diode isolate my door triggers. I found a tan line in my driver kick panel that showed (-) when any door was opened.

Here is where you're gonna find your ignition lines, under the driver side dash. There are multiple switched 12v and constant 12v and your starter wire.

Does it matter which 12v constant I use? Also I can just use a ground wire instead of bolting it to the car? Correct? Also my remote starter requires a tachometer wire so it knows if the car is started where can I find that? I didn't see it in the link you posted. And only other thing I'm looking for is an easily accessible trunk release wire?

Just set it to voltage sense and you wont have to worry about the tach wire. The tach wire is supposed to be safer, it is designed to shut your car off if it sees the tach rise too high. This is so if your car decides to floor itself, it will shut down to save the motor. In the 16 years that I've owned cars (and I've owned some hoopties) they have never went WOT by themselves. So I set mine to voltage sense. It's a setting in your menu and should tell you how to set it that way in the manual. If you want to go with the tach wire, it is here on the back of the gauge cluster. White wire, bottom row on the connector, 3rd spot from the left.

easily accessible trunk release wire?
There are 3 relays to the left of the steering column, the trunk release relay is the one that has a small brown wire going to it. That wire is a negative trigger. I'm mostly colorblind and was tired of wire testing at that point, so I just went to the switch in the glove box. Also negative trigger.
 
A few other things I have questions about. I have done some reading and some people have said that you need to run wires through the firewall. Is it necessary for me to run any wires through the firewall? Also where should I look for the unlock and locking wires for the doors. The other thing is where do you think a good mounting spot for the brain and the bypass module would be? What about the antenna for the alarm and remote start, will I need to run any wires up through the headliner? And if I do need to run wires through the headliner what do you think the best and cleanest way would be to go? I was thinking of following the wires that go to the mirror so that it looks factory but I'm not sure how well that would go :-\ lol.

the only wires that I have seen ran through the firewall are the positive wire for the siren, the alarm that was in my car had the antenna on the siren....dunno if all alarms are this way or not...y would you run wires through the headliner? The lock and unlock wires for the driver side are in the driver kick panel, passenger and other doors is in the passenger kick panel...
 
The only wires you would need to run through the firewall are the siren wires and the hood pin wire. I didn't do either. I didn't want the hood pin on mine because I like to be able to start my car with the hood up. And I mount my sirens inside the car. ( I have 3 inside the car) The only thing a siren outside of the car does, is annoy the neighbors. But inside the car, thieves have a hard time concentrating when their ears are about to bleed.

For the lock/unlock, there is a white wire (unlock) and light blue wire (lock) in the driver kick panel. Actually, IIRC there are a lot of white and light blue wires there, so you will have to continuity test for the correct ones. (Set your DMM to continuity and put one probe on ground and the other probe on the suspected wire, then click the lock. If you here a tone from the DMM, then thats your wire.)

I mounted my brain on the floorboard behind the brake. If you have a universal bypass, (one that requires an extra key) I would mount that under center console by the shifter. You don't want anyone to find that.

I mounted my antenna on the windshield behind the mirror. The wire run is quite simple. Just tuck the wire into your headliner all the way to your driver A pillar. Remove the pillar and run it down to the bottom of the A pillar and remove that access panel on the side of your driver dash. Pull the wire through there and run it to the brain. No need to remove anything but the A pillar for this.
