After market headlamps and HID

Chaparral

Well just got a set of headlights for my 01 yesterday. Not pleased with the results. They are a factory style light just blacked out. They came with a set of 9007 bulbs and the retainer ring that screwed onto the housing that has a groove in it. The OEM headlights have retainer ring that locked onto a metal retainer. The aftermarket one will not lock down due to the HID being to thick. I half a** got the metal retainer on the new headlights but not confident in them. Has anyone else had this issue?? And what did they do. And the beam is worse then what the OEM ones were. And the adjustments are maxed out and i need more. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The reflector

They are better than Sun damaged own but not by much.

I gave up and just had the headlight lens tinted and ran hids to compensate in the light drop

The top n the bottom are blacked out not the back curved reflector. I see that our headlights are a poor match with hids but me factory headlights weren't that bad with my hids just faded really bad

I have almost the same problem. I have 10000k in my GT and the hid will run a bit thicker it took a while to actually get the ring back on. Off topic question but where did u mount or put your ballasts

Ya i bought the car and it has 55 watt 10,000 K VVME's in it. The factory headlights looked good going down the road and never had a problem with anyone flashing me. Now i don't know if i should return these and get a set of projector ones or not. I just don't like the halos. And not sure if i want to retro mine. Its a daily driver but drive alot at night and has sh#t for eyes and just want to see good. BLAH

No don't return them. I would aim them and see if anyone flashes you then. If they do I think going to 35w would be the next move. I wanted 55 but I learned they drown out color and get extremely hot. Melted my friends housing on his corolla S. But after professionally aiming them (friend works at body shop) they seemed fine. You can do it yourself tho very easily.

Also I hate halos, they just don't look right on the gp. Or at least the ones I've seen, I like the rings around lights only at night but strips of LEDs do look good like some high end European cars.
