here's the raw (cliff's notes) info
first let me make clear i would much wrather have people take the extra time& money to eliminate OE plastic fuel lines entirely from at least their engine compartments
....with elevated underhood temps safety should be first
-8 bore rails with -6 lines, these i'm working on a remote dual port OE regulator housing (to allow parallel flow through rails as well as series flow) but in most cases i'm guessing someone would be looking at a pump bigger than a drop in unit and/or looking at an aftermarket adj fpr
-10 rails with -8 lines these are the fatman rails...they are larger to allow the fitment of L32 pulsation dampner directly into the rails to minimize the pressure fluctuations seen with large injectors they are made to handle the volume and pressure of a Weldon 2035 pump going into the whippledriv.
i'm also working on a setup for the much left out L36 topend turbo guys
there is just a bit of a liability issue with assuming the purchaser knows how to properly install fittings on stainless line, but i figure most that would want these would want just the rails& major parts and know how to do their own plumbing.
am i right?

First, those look AWESOME. Second, you make a good point about the liability. But I would say you shouldnt have any issues with that. The owner assumes all responsibility when modifying the engine. Furthermore, I believe your liability would be limited to any defect in the rails themselves. There's no way you can control how these are installed unless, of course, you install them.

I think you will find many know how to install them themselves, others would hopefully seek the help from a local chapter that could get someone to be hands on with them at the time of installation. Some good instructions might help, but you could get that from the community. Im sure someone out there would be willing to take their time and document everything in written form and with pictures. From what I have seen of this community so far and our growing How To section, I just cant see that you'd have any trouble getting some good instructions together. If I had all the braided lines and fittings Id offer to do so but time and materials are short now. Besides Im still trying to figure out everything I will need to do that.

I would actually just prefer the rails and all the appropriate hardware because I want to replace my lines with braided line all the way back to the tank and will be working towards that.

Great looking rails, I cant wait to see them available. Oh, where are these going to mount? Are they going to use the stock mounting point? I think you mentioned that but I dont recall what your answer was.

thats the problem i'm encountering variations in instalation that affect injector spray pattern...even the "slop" in the OE rails affects where in the ports the injector spray is aiming. i've been trying to figure out a way to index the rails so that they are aligned properly. the disparities between the injector spraying outboard of the valve stem and inboard accounted for a large tuning variation on the riviera, it showed up every time we removed the rails or just moved them. (which led to other interesting things, but i still have to research more on that stuff)

i figure alot of people would want the rails alone and plumb their own systems (parallel, series, deadhead(04+)) the issue we found on the riv is modifying the OE sending unit for the 3/4" pump feed and 1/2" return, lol
these mount at the OE locations which by how they have to be installed accounts for the mount hole play and injector aiming issues.

the only good solution may be to do on-car injector aiming, there may be some free power being gained/lost depends greatly on how homogenous the mixture becomes in-cylinder...

i may be off my rocker here but on a stock 3800 inj aim isnt a huge issue but when we saw over 5% LTFT change moving the rails 2mm...i'd bet its something to take notice of, when a whipple is shoving 20lbs of **** into a 3800 ;)
 
You know, that is a very good point that I bet many have missed. I would have never thought of the rails altering the spray pattern by their movement. Holy cow, you have to keep us up to date on this one. Thats like the last thing I would have ever looked at for a tuning issue, heck I doubt it would have ever occurred to me that it could pose a tuning issue. Just wow!

i've noticed a few things that i cant figure out how the community missed em...i'm a sbc guy fer sure but the 3800 is a direct decendant of the 3.8/LC3 and has many of the same problems but none had done the research. TB coolant delete's removing coolant flow from the rear bank, cam bearing restriction on the #2&3 main bearing passage, the wiiidde disparity in machining tollerances from block to block, lack of an effective windage tray for #3 & 4 bores due to the sump pickup (working on an external sump pan to allow for a full length tray;))....

i can, and do, talk peoples ears off regularly... it sucks i cant type fast otherwise i'd put it on he web instead of my notebook.

i'd like a day on the dyno just for testing injector aiming...
 


well I have watched your posts here and on CGP and I read every word. I think you and I are a like, I just dont always have the means to do the stuff you do. But I would be one to cut up a block, LIM and more to learn. I love to experiment to get data from a laymens point of view.

That said, if you ever want to put your notebook on the web, please let me know because I would volunteer to do so as I would love to peek in that brain of yours and get a glimpse of all it has learned.

I keep all that I do in the way of car work (at least I try to) on my hard drive. I keep diaries on the work I do on stuff, I collect and save How To's and so forth. So you are speaking my language with the Notebook.
 
only one obstacle there...my handwriting is so bad... lol
i have a buncha word doc's that i've done but so much more info has to be sorted out before i can finish them. ( i need to do it all over with an outline to organize the mess)

i could only imagine how many people i would confuse if i just scanned all my pages and posted them...fer some reason i dont think linearly lol
 
I hear ya. I get to points sometimes that the ideas in my head are swirling around so fast I cant write them down quick enough and my handwriting suffers greatly for it.

I can type much faster so I started just keeping things on the hard drive and started collecting stuff and making write ups and so forth. I got a screen shot of what my little storage looks like. I have a drive on my laptop with everything, I have an external drive that I back up everything to and then I have portable USB hard drive (120gb) that is nearly totally dedicated to all of my Grand Prix stuff and I carry it with me.
