Aeroforce Issue - not really turning on....

I have an Aeroforce Interceptor Gauge (Gen1 IIRC) and its having issues powering up

The issue i'm having is that the gauge has a mind of its own basically, sometimes it turns on by itself and it also turns of by itself, sometimes if you tap the gauge it turns on, the wiring is good now, thanks to Jordon! :) now just have to figure out the rest...

Jordon (Mad Monkey) helped out quite a bit, checked the gauge and everything in the gauge looked okay, everything was intact

I would really like to have the gauge working
any suggestions of what i should do? what i should look for? any help is appreciated

TIA
-Mike

his original wiring was cut and just twisted together, so i chopped it up, soldered and heat shrink tubed the lines for good connections.
the gauge itself is intact like he said, nothing loose or looking damaged. it just powers up sometimes and not others.

For hooking it up to power you can always tap into an unused fuse space that only has power going to it when the car is on/acc. This may help a little bit so it is not constantly on and will turn off when the car turns off. I would also double check your ground. This is all being said with having no knowledge on an aeroforce gauge.

its hooked up to the sunroof fuse, so no matter what, its off at power, only when the ignition is on, this happens

i should've been more specific, sorry

no :o lol but its getting power via (kinda redneckish) putting the power supply wire into the bottom part of the sunroof fuse then put the 20 back in, would that be causing it? this was happening with the previous owner as well, normally when you flick or tap the gauge, sometimes it turns on, sometimes not, sometimes it turns itself off, i will be trying to get an add a fuse if need be this weekend

Jordon and i were thinking a board could be having an issue...

my car has a fuse for the sunroof, so what i did was find out what side of the fuse the current is running to and put the wire on that side of the fuse, this way power is running through the 20 that is there, powering the sunroof and aeroforce, if it were too much current that sucker would pop it was a temporary thing, but will be fixed soon

---edit---

so use the PGM fuse rather then the sunroof fuse?

from the write up i seen to install, it was said to use the sunroof

whats the recomended fuse for a sunroof? also its a 10 for the aeroforce... right?

no.. that IS what is making it turn on and off. look at the back of the gauge also and see if the little red jumper ( fuse looking thing ) is in there still.

nope, there is not spot to have that red jumper
and Jordon, i must've been texting when you told me this lol my bad, okay so i am just going to run down, switch it over to the pgm fuse and give it a try to see if it resolves it, if so, it was a user error :th_hammerhead2:

no, if there was too much current running to the item thats drawing it, the fuse would pop (obviously depending on fuse amperage)
