Adding VIN and Serial to Bin?

I am trying to add a VIN to a file for Nixon so that it can be changed and modified it in Tiny Tuner? I assume once I have a VIN in the file I can also change the serial in Tiny Tuner? Am I missing something on how to do it?

Are some files supported in Tiny Tuner as far as changing stuff but not changing the VIN? Because I can open the file with Tiny Tuner and see all the stuff but when I go up to the menu I can't change the VIN or Serial? I also see that it says "Invalid vin" at the bottom.

Technically you cant swap the serial numbers around on any bin file. I could be wrong there, but I dont think you can.

As far as the VIN goes... its not required to even be a value to do anything in any editor except probably HPT. I typically just leave it blank and use the PCM's VIN number when flashing. If I remember right, the VIN and SERIAL stored in the BIN file are just "bonus" bits of information, as they are installed seperate of the actual file when flashed.

So nobody knows why certain OSIDs have the VIN and Serials menu options grayed out in Tiny Tuner? It's only certain ones that say "Invalid Vin" at the bottom with it grayed out at the top.

Every OSID isn't totally mapped out for every program, I'm sure the less common one's are going to have less mapped out for them.

If it is a 98 or newer, it can be changed. If it doesn't have a vin/serial number in it already, it can't be changed. Adding one to a bin that doesn't already have one takes some skill with a hex editor and some searching.

@Pure2sin.. Got your IM the late last night. Haven't bin on IM alot lately. Should be on later tonight.
