• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Add A shop talk section?

Another forum I am on has a sub section of the general section (off topic type section) that is called "Shop Talk" where anything NWS goes. To view that section you have to pm the moderator of that section and she has to give you permission to access that account. All I know is that she verifies you are 18+, what else she looks at I don't know. Anyways it was just a thought.

Well, I had a section like that called fire and ice, and it can get out of hand real fast. Since there are so many forums out there for just about everything imaginable, we would rather have this forum centered around the cars. Its really along the same lines as the reason we dont have a mustang section....they have their own place to go, and thats where it should be is over there, not here. Porn, extremely foul language and down and out rudeness really have no place on this fourm since there are tons of other resources out there for persons to surf porn is they so wish. I am not saying its wrong, just saying it has its place and we should stay focused on cars here and not get sidetracked by some bodacious eye candy like can be found at easypic.c0m.

Thanks for the suggestion

I guess I never really thought of it like that, and I didn't mean to post porn only. The forum that I saw this on had a limitation to the amount of nudity, Nothing below the waste. Then on special occasions the mods would have an "anything goes" week. Also on the other forum it isn't used all that much, mostly if someone got a funny pic in an email or a funny dirt joke, but then again that forum is mostly made up of older guys.

I have no problem with jokes and stuff, but I try to keep in mind that there are some fathers here that have there son with them trying to teach them about cars and how to find info, and I would feel alot better if they could come here and share the site with their son without the worry of "whats that mean Dad, or Dad, whats that". funny pics are cool to, like the merry christmas one that was posted....as long as its all in fun and does not get racial or pornographic Im cool with it. I think the really bad language can take care of itself. We all know that we can find ways to get our point across without having to resort to filling in F words every other word.

Its just a nice thing, and I in no way am saying that you are that way, Just saying that there are places for that kind of content. If its a joke or something like that, feel free to post it up just edit it so that adults will know what you mean and your not teaching anyone a new language.

I have to agree here. I have a step son that is 14 now and likes to help with the car and I like to have him with me on the forum so he too learns early the value of a community such as this and that sharing information is a good thing. I also want him to learn without all the other stuff that tends to creep in sometimes.

I too am not saying that is what you would do, but with such things if you give a little someone is going to try and take a lot and then if you draw a line the inevitable questions comes "Why didnt you change that, or block this" and so on. So instead of getting to that point its probably better in the long run to just keep the site focused on the cars and the community.

I agree with you 100%. I guess it is hard to explain how it is used, if I could show you I would, but you don't have access to that section of the forum. But I will quite talking about it because I don't want you to think I am pushing for it. I can definetly see something like that getting out of hand on a forum full of younger people.
