Accelerating after slowing down

I have a 2006 Grand Prix GT S/C, purchased it with 68,400 miles on it, has about 69,500 miles on it now. Here's a typical scenario. I'll be driving about 50mph on a main road in my town and then merge into the right turn lane and turn into my subdivision. When I let go of the brake after the turn into the subdivision I'm going about 10-15mph, when I push on the gas to accelerate to 25mph, it feels like theres a split second when I push the gas that the engine catches on to the transmission (if that makes sense) and then accelerates. If I push on the gas hard it'll jerk when it "catches" so I have to be very easy on the gas after making the turn so it doesn't jerk. I wanted to know if this is normal or if anybody else has this issue. If I'm going 50 mph, decel to lets say 30, and floor it, it's nice and smooth. Same thing accelerating from 0mph. It only seems to do this when I'm accelerating from 10-15mph.

I notice the exact same thing in my 06 GT. I've been paying close attention because it always happens at a certain on-ramp in my area. Turn right to on-ramp, accelerate normal, sorta slippery, then it seemingly jumps into gear and moves. I'll have to record this tomorrow morning when I go to work... it does it every single time. Sounds like the same problem OP is having.

I'm thinking the car is (maybe?) in second gear during the 10-20mph and when we accelerate, it jumps into first after hesitating.

I read the same thing somewhere online, that the transmission is in 2nd and when you push the gas it realizes it should be in first.

Although I just drove it around and did the same scenario about 5 times and this time, I really hit the gas coming out of a turn after decelerating to about 10mph and it was smooth as butter.
