• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

AC problems.

Actuators are moving, blend doors are moving, new compressor, orifice filter and accumulator. Freon is full. Used it two weeks ago in Kentucky and it was ice cold. Used it yesterday.....barely gets cool going down highway. Moved all blend doors by hand and it does not change. Good high and low side readings. Compressor is engaging. It acts like the compressor took a poop, but, with the good readings.....I dunno.

I can't remember exactly. I bought the kit off one of the online sites that came with the compressor, oil, filter and accumulator. The instructions stated the oil was pre-measured and to use the entire contents.

No it does not. However, I am getting condensation dripping out of the drain.....which is odd as it makes it appear there is some cooling going on somewhere.

Running AC Max: Low: 48 psi High: 246 PSI
Static both low and high are around 110 PSI
Ambient temp was around 94 with 60-ish % humidity

did you evacuate before charging? How much weight did you put in the system? If you believe you have the proper charge then run a mist from your garden hose over the condenser on the front of the car and see if high side comes down. ( low side should be a bit lower too). I did see you said it didn't cool properly while on highway so I'm assuming its not a fan issue, just make sure there isn't a bunch of crap blocking airflow through the condenser.

what was the original failure on the a/c requiring the change of parts?

The high side is not too far off....if any. High side is generally 2-2.5 times higher than the ambient air temperature. Considering the temp and humidity.....the numbers are believable /achievable.

Looking the the info, I would say the low is too high running. When charging, I find the sweet spot on these cars to be between 32 and 38 psi. Typically more toward 32.

I will remove some of the Freon tonight and give it a try Bill. Its blowing warm now, so I am not hurting anything at this point. Also, the low side hose is not getting cold. Wondering if the control valve in the compressor has taken a dump.

This got interesting. Put the gauge on it and got it down to 35 PSI on the low side. No change in temperature. Said screw it and decided to evac the Freon and start tearing back into the system. Once I got it to 35 PSI......pressed the Schrader valve in to evac the system......it took all of about 3 seconds to be completely empty. It seems like there is a blockage. Going to pull the orifice tube and see if the guy actually changed the damned thing. It seems he charged me for some stuff he didn't do.

usually an ot blockage gives you a high high side reading and low low side reading which your original pressures didn't indicate.

Pulled the OT out. It was plugged full of deposits. Put a new one in.....not as bad you would think.....takes about 30 minutes.....and you will need to re-bleed the brakes the way I did it as I hate fighting around stuff......no big deal. I do not have an evac system to put vacuum on it, but, I thought I would shoot some Freon in it anyway to see if there was a change. Got a whole 6 ounces in it and the compressor kicked on. Checked gauges on high and with just 6 ounces in it. High was around 160 PSI and low was at 72 PSI. It seems like a have a blockage somewhere. Think I am done messing with it. Will just try and get it to the shop soon. I got better things to do than beating my head up against a wall.
