AC compressor Clutch Problem

Hey all,
I have a problem with my air conditioning. When I turn the AC off the clutch on the compressor stays engaged. Only way I can get it to disengage is to take the diode out of the fuse box. My old diode was cracked and I bought a replacement but it still does it. Another thing I noticed yesterday was after running my car for about 1 minute, I went to take the diode out and it was hot as hell! I couldnt even hold it in my hand it was so hot. So im guessing whatever activates that diode is messing up. Any ideas?

Ouch man....that's sad to hear. Well.....not to be a vulture or anything, but if you get to take anything off of her....keep me in mind. :(
