AC Compresor Making Noise

i have a 97 gtp and it sounded like a bad bearing was coming from the right side of my engine (belts side) so i pulled off both belts and checked all the pulleys and the AC was the one that was making the noise i put a lil oil on the AC pully started it up after i put the belts back on and still made noise. when i would turn on the air the noise would stop. anyone ever have this problem before? if so do i need to replace the whole AC compresor or is it possible to just replace the pulley? i have a blown up l67 with good externals on it so i have the whole AC set up.

Your bearings in the pulley are going out. When the clutch engages to turn the pulley it's moving the compressor and not these bearings. It's why the sound goes away. The pulley is a real PITA to replace and sometimes can cost near the price of a compressor. I'd just just swap the compressor and call it a day.

thats what i was thinkin but isnt it hard to swap the compressor too cause its all the way at the bottom is there access to get to it from underneath the car?

Not really. Just jack it up, take off the passenger tire and the splash guard and take it out through the fender. Done it myself once upon a time and it wasn't hard at all.

Mine did the same thing one day, i just sprayed the **** out of it with wd40 and it stopped and hasn't come back its been a month, maybe a temporary fix but if i can put it off works for me

I sprayed White lithium grease down mine when it made noise.... so far so good

The sound was like a link chain being drug across concrete.
