ABS/Trac Light problem

Let me try explaining everything in regards to what may be the cause of the problem.

I did my brake pads/rotors about 3-4 weeks ago. I changed out the front rotors and pads and only changed the rear left rotor and pad. Reason for that was because there was a stripped nut on the rear right side of the wheel, and I didnt have the tools to take care of that problem. A week or two after changing them the ABS Light would come on usually after a big bump in the road, and once that lit up, the Trac Off light would come on too. It happened twice today, once when I was going to work in the morning, and again on the way back. But when I would turn the car off and then back on, the ABS Light and the Trac Off light would disappear again.

something like this happened to my car after hitting a big bump once and then once when there was a lot of ice in the wheel well. It turned out to be a wire that broke down comin off of the hub so when it happened the second time i soldered it back into the plug. Ur problem sounds more like a loose wire someplace. If i were u id start by removing the wheel and checking the wiring that goes into the hub (i believe its called a hub). Then check where they plug together and clip on. U may have bumped it when working on it.

It's more than likely either bad wiring (like he stated above) or its a bad hub. I have the same problem ATM, and like you at first, it only did it when i would hit a big bump. Now it's on all the time. I just bought a new hub for about $70.

You'll hear it once the hub is shot enough, if it is the hub.

You could take a multimeter to the connectors for the sensor(s). I'm sure the specs are on here somewhere. If not, go have it scanned.

well, i didn't know at first... and then i got to looking at the receipts from when i first got the car (year and a half ago) when i had it fixed, and they replaced the passenger side one, but kept the driver's side one. So i'm guessing wheel hubs dont go out that fast. and the one they bought was like $100. Hopefully, for that much money it was a good one. It's kind of a shot-in-the-dark thing. If the hubs are really bad, you can take your car on a back road get up to about 25-35 mph and swerve back and fourth and if there is a grinding noise a certain way, then that's the bad one. (Advice from my mechanic)

had the same problem, then it was on all the time. i had it scanned it was a left wheel speed sensor and was only a broken wire.

it fixed it but now i have the same problem again fml
