ABS / TCS Codes 2001 GTP

I've read many, many ABS posts here and they all sound similar but a little different than my problem.

Symptom is intermittent ABS & TCS Off lights with the steering going a little stiff. I pulled all 4 wheels, checked the plugs, wires, wheel hub play (RF has a "tiny" bit of play). I put a dab of dielectric grease in the connectors, & put them all back. Test drove - problem still there.
Took it to a good garage (non-dealer) and they told gave me the codes below. One other incidental problem / code was to replace the thermostat which they did. Garage owner suggested I take it to a dealer for a better ABS scan so I can get a more detailed idea what it's pointing to. I don't have a problem doing that, but thought I'd post here first. I also checked out Cheap ABS.com and they said they'd do the module for $110.

What do y'all think? :th_wtf:

Codes from the Snap On analyzer they have:

C0550 - EBCM / EBTCM internal malfunction
C0244 - Delivered Torque Signal Fault
C0896 - Device Voltage Range Performance

P0128 - Coolant Thermostat (replaced today)
P1571 - TCS PWM Circuit No Frequency / Signal

That's a great thread. I think the related steering symptom pretty much nailed it down for me. That was a great help. Think I'll drive it the next couple days and pull the module off and box it up over the weekend to go out first of the week.

I'll post the results after I put it back together and test fly...uhhh I mean test drive it. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Thanks Again,

OK...strange things happen sometimes, but check it out.....

I thought it was fixed but this afternoon the lights lit up again on start up. Nothing really to report until I send the module off for rebuild. Hope that fixes it....will report back when I put it back together.

I'll add that this 13yr. old stock GTP coupe smoothly powered up to max. supercharger boost and popped up over 100mph with nary a whimper. GM really f'd up when they ended Pontiac production.

I got my ECBM back from Cheap ABS.com yesterday. The work order in the box indicated it was repaired; cost was $110. I put it on and test drove it last night with no lights lit up, and same goes for driving today. Will drive it for about a week to make sure something else isn't lurking, but I think it's fixed.

I'm for real a GTP geek, but these cars are good drivers. I'll be pissed when it finally wears out, or God forbid I wreck it. :th_thumbsup-wink:

Just a note, there are a lot of places that repair these. I used guy on ebay for $50. It must be an easy repair.
