Abs lights

I just purchased an 04 Comp G with 74k miles. The abs /traction control lights come on alot. The dealer is trying to fix the problem. They have determined its an electrical problem. Have replaced both wheel bearings. Also brake position sensor has been replaced twice and calibrated. Has anyone else had this problem with the lights coming on all the time?

i have a 97 grand prix with the same problem only when i hit bumps and if you figure it out please let me know

check the hubs for play, check the wires to the hubs, ( all 4 wheels) if you cant find anything get it scanned. that way you not wasting money tossing parts at it.

big, you got a gremlin id guess. lets hope the dealer can find it.

If your dealer used a Tech II to scan it, they should be able to be more specific than "electrical problem." Problem could be abs module (faulty from factory, requires $150 rebuild), either of the other two wheel bearings, or any of the wiring in between.

I'd say you can rule out the abs module if hitting bumps is the culprit. Wire short or bad sensor is my guess, but a Tech II should give you a better idea.

this is going to sound really stupid and some might not agree with this but what i did was unplug your wheel bearing grab a can of coke soak the connections in coke for aprox 5 minutes rinse off the stickiness and plug back in i never had a problem again

I have repaired many abs problems over the years.

The specific problem I see is the wiring from the abs module to the wheel bearing connector.

Depending on the code for which front wheel (because I've never repaired a rear) and sometimes it's both but the twisted pair have a break somewhere along the line. The easiest repair is to twist up a set of wires and run a new set. Let me know of you need a pin out of the abs module. Usually take me an hour to do both.

Just a heads up it may not set any codes and that only watching speed sense data with a tech2 or comparable scanner will help determine which one is the problem. Sometimes I dont even bother with replacing one cause I've seen both sides cause the problem. The wires MUST be twisted to prevent interference in the ac signal .
