A sad, sad day...CAR FOR SALE... or for junk, NEW JERSEY

Hey everyone, my 1998 Grand Prix's run is finally over. The front brakes and rotors are shot, the muffler is rusted through, the mileage is through the roof (250k+) and my money is no longer going to be spent on fixing this beast. Already spent more than I paid for it in repairs and new tires. Currently am driving an 02 Toyota Camry...not happy about switching from American made cars...

My point of this post is to possibly get opinions on what to do.

I was planning on getting it junked as I do not believe anyone would want a car in this condition. Does anyone have any recommendations on where I can get it junked for as much money as possible. I live in New Jersey, btw.

The car's condition: 257,000 miles roughly, front brakes and rotors need replacement, exhaust system needs replacement (partial), motor and tranny seem to be in good shape, new battery, new tires, new starter and alternator, hood is partially dinged from an accident (minor).

If anyone wants to make an offer I am extremely flexible, either taking the car strictly for parts, etc. I am not looking to get much for this thing.

Thanks for your help, any and all comments welcome.

Doesn't sound like it would cost much to fix what is wrong. How are all the common rust problem spots on this car? Also was the trans ever replaced? I have a buddy who might be interested in buying the car off you.

Brakes and rotors all around I can manage for something like $150. Exhaust replacement? I got a full 3" catback welded for $150, so I'm so sure it's not that much. Hoods are cheap to find one and throw on. You've got maybe $350 in repairs needed, at a conservative estimate. Not too bad.

Only thing I'd worry about is frame/rocker rust.

I agree with everyone on the repair costs, but the thing is with the new car I just can't put anymore money into it. I've already put close to what I paid for it into it...just isn't worth it. Transmission may have been replaced, message me and I'll give you the VIN in two days. Rust isn't anything too bad. I am extremely flexible on price, mainly since I wouldn't even know what to ask for this thing. Will definitely try Craigslist. This car can be great for parts, if you need pictures, again, message me.

Put it on cl for around $1500 and wait a week or so and i'll bet you get some interest in it.

I'm going to try Craigslist...it's been giving me trouble uploading pictures but i'll try again later. Offer still stands as of now if anyone else is interested.
