a little story about me

I have a 2000 GTP and it was pretty well modded. 18' wheels killed my transmission. It bucked and stuttered and started to shift a little slow. It still powered through until one time i did a powerbrake and it didnt like that. about a week later it went completely. had clutches in the pan, fluid was pretty bad looking. I decided while i had the tranny out I would cam it. I screwed up the bolt holes for the head bolts. tried to save it with heli coils but to no avial. bought an 04 L26 from LKQ for 400 bucks with 45K. had my old heads P&P'd by a local guy. my original heads were cracked and he wouldnt work on them so he found me another set. Got a low mile Gen V for 330 shipped off ebay. got another local member a brand new out of the box Gen V for 430 shipped. Had that polished by Farns worth after I opened up the inlet a little bit and polished the outlet and smoothed a bunch of stuff up. Anyhow. Ive been pluggin away at this thing getting everything ready and painted and sanded and done the way it should be done and its really starting to take shape and look kick ass. spent the better part of 6 hours running red wire loom through out the engine bay. anyway here are a couple of pics

I have to say, after being through all that and you are still pluggin away, hats off to you.

Thats looking pretty darn good there. Keep up the good work.

Nice pics...Glad you hung in there and hope all works well for you in the end.

But just my opinion...your 18" wheels didn't kill your transmission. It was your style of driving. My car had 18s on it when I bought it, and the guy ran them for years (4+) like that. And I still have the original trans with no problems. So while 18s may put more stress on a transmission, it is ultimetly the style of driving (burnouts, powerjacking, hard shifts, etc) that will kill a tranny.

IDK. I didnt really treat it like ****. I have owned it for three years and can count on one had how many times smoke has rolled out of the fenders. never drove it to hard. I did race some and peeled out sometimes but never tortured it. Now that i think back when i first got it. It was always a little slower than i thought it should be going from R to D. I put my 18's on and it didnt like those at all. Right after i got the 18's my rack took a dump. then the tranny started acting up. My 18's are 60lbs a piece. I just got a stock junkyard tranny. I am pretty sure it will take a **** on me too. but im prepared and ive been in contact with a certain member that we all know and love.
