99 gtp...

Re: new guy 99 GTP total transformation

I like how laid back lapeer is most of our cars are in the low 12's and other speedways require a lot of safety equipment to run that fast lapeer doesn't give a ****.....I think it's funny when they don't know what to do with AWD and FWD cars lol

Re: new guy 99 GTP total transformation

Just picked it up 2 weeks ago. Right now I'm in the middle of taking the motor and trans out, about to post pics on my page right now. Has a blown trans, so I'll be doing a trans rebuild and doing the LIM gaskets. They look to be the aluminum ones but doing them to be sure. So right now, it's stock.

Re: new guy 99 GTP total transformation

Few new parts, my dad ordered them for his snowmobile then decided he wanted one that read to 30psi instead of 20 so i bought it off of him so he didnt have to send it back. Its the bigger 2 5/8ths too, its going on the steering column

Re: new guy 99 GTP total transformation

That is one hell of an ET & trap speed! Damn CAM must be black magic! I will be happy to get into high 13's this year once I get the 3.4 on and get a custom Overkill tune.
What was your 60ft? Downhill track? LOL

Re: new guy 99 GTP total transformation

60ft was 1.89, the cam makes good power but it is smaller than a XP. The car ran 13.33@104 on 93oct with the 3.4" pulley spring of last year. Should run 12.30 or so this year on a good track like Norwalk.

Re: new guy 99 GTP total transformation

I couldnt find anyplace where I had posted this video before on here, this was getting ready for the track in Oct.

Re: new guy 99 GTP total transformation

Update....Been working on getting the car ready for the season. Boxes and Boxes of parts have been coming in, money has been going out lol. Pulled the trans back out for a freshen up a 300M input and to check on a few mods we came up with and see how they were working out. Spent the morning yesterday milling and modding my lower intake and intercooler plates to make my Gen 3 intercooler and gen V supercharger work good together. I love doing expensive stuff myself for free...

Re: 99 GTP...new pics/milling and drilling

Worked on the car for 8 hrs today. Im still waiting on trans parts but I was bored today so I decided to get some of the intercooler work done on it anyways. Ended up having to tear the motor all apart. Had a cam angle sensor code since oct. so I picked up a cas with a batch of parts from rock auto. After I got the LIM off to swap on my new one on I noticed something odd sitting inside the edge of the empty balance shaft hole. It turned out to be my CAS magnet :th_shakinghead2:. So I pulled the front cover and found the timing chain damper cracked also. I was thinking of pulling the cover to check the damper and chain anyways but I had pretty much decided to let it be. So much for that. Got a lot of my IC stuff situated, made brackets and mounted my IC tank. Trimmed the fender brace to clear my home brew FWI, mounted my IC pump. Enough talky here's the pics.

Re: 99 GTP...ugh...more broken stuff, more work

I'm surprised more people dont use some of these cx racing parts. That aluminum tank cost like $68 all I have to do is TIG some 1"x1" pads on where I need to tap and thread my fittings. Looks so clean and tucked in, I love it. That monster s-pipe was like $25. Then getting things permanently mounted like the PCM and IC pump. Basically I hate zip ties

Re: 99 GTP...ugh...more broken stuff, more work

No custom order there, its on eBay too but its harder to find, it was like $28 with free shipping off of ebay instead of thier store. cxracing.com: 4" OD Air Intake S shape Aluminum Pipe, Mandrel Bent Polished, 3mm Thick Tube, 16" Length.

cast 4" elbow I used to get the fit right to use the 4x9" filter
cxracing.com: 4" Cast Aluminum 90 Degree Elbow Pipe Tube Turbo intercooler Polished

all you need is a few couplers and a big filter, I got mine from zzp for around $50

Re: 99 GTP...ugh...more broken stuff, more work

Thank you Sir, I bookmarked them for later when I'm not on a money diet. I like how yours looks, so I think later mine will be done that way too.

Re: 99 GTP...ugh...more broken stuff, more work

I debated between using a stubby filter and no elbow like the other fenderwell intakes or using the elbow and the monster filter. I really think the big filter will be less restriction even with the 90* it is 4".

Re: 99 GTP...ugh...more broken stuff, more work

Got a few things done on it today. Can't put the front cover on so I can't really finish anything but we did some welding and mock up. Got the fmhe situated and stacked everything on top of the motor to check a few things over.

Modified hood latch and intercooler support bar.

Front PCV hose barb, don't feel like tapping the valve cover

Perfect height, first shot. Took the fugly giant brass drain off the bottom after this and just put a plug in.

Put a few hours into polishing my wbs belt wrap. Looked like it would be a quick job...hahaha never.

Everything set in place

Perfect clearance on the fwi, intercooler tank and PCM. Couldn't have worked out any better

The hood is supposed to clear this right?
