99 GTP Stalling, other weird stuff

I have a 99 GTP and it hates me. She stalls @ every light if I dont put it in neutral, and the heads up display says anything from 1-3 MPH, and I'm completely still. When it stalls, and I restart it, the TCS light comes on. Sometimes it will stall when I take it from neutral, or park, to drive or reverse. Also, sometimes it won't turn over at all, and I have to step on the throttle for it to turn over. It's like it wants to start, but won't hold the RPMs..idk. When I let off the gas it dies, and I have to rev it again while starting. Eventually it will hold. Weird freakin car man...I am not a tech, or have any knowledge of what could be the problem..I got it looked at and they said it could be the tranny, but I've never seen a bad tranny make you stall 10 times in an hour...Any suggestions?

The transmission makes it go, if it is stalling in park or neutral... there more than tranny problems.

I second the crank sensor first. Possibly MAF &/or Idle Air control?

I would get a second opinion from somewhere reputable. If it stalled everytime you put it in reverse or drive, then there would be a possible tranny problem, but If it won't stay running in park then there is a problem with the motor. Could be fuel related, could be a sensor.
I think more fuel than sensor because of "Also, sometimes it won't turn over at all, and I have to step on the throttle for it to turn over". But I could be wrong. May consider changing the fuel filter if you haven't lately and having it checked to make sure you have proper fuel pressure.

ok thanks guys, i had the filter replaced, i was actually thinking of replacing the fuel pump. then when i got it looked at the guy said tranny, because the car isnt throwing any codes. dash is clear as day, just stalls. it also doesnt stall in park or neutral just drive and reverse

Hold up... let's discuss the diagnosis given, I'm not sure we should dismiss it so easily.

What happens when the torque converter soleniod locks on? A code P0742 would indicate to me that the TCC isn't allowing itself to spin freely.

How to tell: Well there's codes that don't turn on the check engine light. Therefore the car needs to be scanned. Most parts stores will do this for free. Have it checked out. Ask them for the actual code numbers that are currently stored. Likely...it's the one I mentioned. If so, then we can talk further.

General stalling is one thing. However the rpm dipping as you stop is not a symptom of a crank sensor. Crank sensors allow the engine to stall at any given time. Slowing down means rpm is dropping and that's likely a very different issue.

Read this to better understand the issue: http://www.sonnax.com/system/pdfs/125/original/TS5-GN-044-045.pdf?1289926276

Then read this to understand the stalling.

ok i'll look into that right now i got it scanned but the guy didnt tell me what the outcome was, he just simply said transmission.

I added after posting. Some info to bring you up to speed if I'm right on the code. If I'm not..well then you learned something that you might need later in life...I can't give you the time back though. :D

Ok so I talked to the tech that scanned my car and he said the scanner read: "torque converter switch lockup, transmission slipping." Sounds like I need a tranny? Or are there other things that could be causing this to happen? Also, I heard Lubegard can save your transmission, or buy it a little time. Thoughts?
