99 GTP dic shows no boost

I just bought this car. It has no trouble codes, and feels like the supercharger is working, the car really moves. Should I be able to hear the supercharger? I can hear it turning under the hood at idle.

I checked for vacuum leaks, and fittings. I used carb cleaner on the lines also, but it revealed nothing.

Any Ideas?

Thanks a lot!

you boost bypass valve might be dead. remove the vacuum L from the solenoid (black box on the lower drivers side, front of the blower) and plug it. take a run in the car and see if it shows up on the DIC.

I pulled the vacuum line from the small soleniod under the black round canister with vacuum lines going to it. I plugged the left side (hard hose), no joy. I plugged the line on the right side of that solenoid that goes to the canister above. No Joy. Did I plug the correct line? I see the lights for boost on start up on the dic, so I dic is ok.

Is the supercharger audible while driving? Ive been around some supercharged GTO's, and you can hear it easily.

Thanks!

you should be able to hear it faintly on the stock pulley with the stock intake. with an open cone or a short ram you definitely should be able to hear it.

you did plug the right vac line though (it's the one that is coming from the fuel pressure regulator across the front of the blower). so at this point i would guess vacuum leak. any maintenance done recently or something you know has been neglected for a while?

Nothing done recently. I bought it from a gal whose hubby passed away a year ago. She did drive it weekly to excersize it, so it wouldnt rott sitting. It seems by the service records I got with it, that the car was meticulously maintained. It runs awesome.

I used carb cleaner while the engine was at idle on all of the vacuum lines I could find.

Thanks!

Mine was doing the exact same thing. Make sure the bbv is opening and closing all the way. Mine was sticking up and didnt come all the way down to rest on the metal piece below it. Start up the car and move the rod coming out of the bbv up and down. Sprayed mine with some wd-40 and it fixed it. You would be bale to tell a big difference if that is your problem.

Thanks! That did it. It moved, but not far enough. WD40 ftw! I can hear and feel the charger now!! WOW!

Thanks a lot!

Going to have to line it up next to my GTO now.

GTO will kill it, its 380rwhp......but the gtp is for the wife,so i win either way:th_laugh-pointup:.

GTP has 104000 miles.
