99 blowing cold air

anarchy

ok so i have had the car for a while and always wondered why it would never get over 180 degrees. Bought a new t-stat and flushed the rad, filled it with prestone any make, any model coolant and now i have no hot air at all. Before i had a little bit, but now none. The hoses going to the heater core are both cold.

Back flush the heat core with a garden hose, then fill the LIM with coolant first, put in thermostat and housing and leave the rad cap on and bleed the cooling system with a bleeder on top of the thermostat housing.

ok so i have hot air now. the temp gauge is going crazy tho, it rises to about 200 and then will drop off to 180 or so. what would cause that

these cars tenp always go up and down, sitting they run warm, moving they cool right down.

as long as your not over heating its ok.

Did you bleed the cooling system of air all the way?

Air pockets can cause the temp gauge to read all over. Once a 195 thermostat is opened up, temp changes shouldnt be more than 5-10º unless sitting in heavy traffic on a hot day.
