98 GTP Modded Overheating as soon as starting

That's insane your running a 3.4 pulley without any real mods ? I would also look into a tuned PCM right after the headers. You can't skimp a 3.4 set up without enduring damage.
 


my gp had a coolant leak and it turned out to be leaking from the block heater so i had to replace it with a frost plug
 
i understand what your all saying and yes this is going to be the second time i burb out the system. im running whats on the website. i have the Fenderwell CAI, Autolight 104s gapped .55 to .57, 180 T stat. i changed the supercharger oil. replaced gaskets. i changed the trans oil, yea i planned on a tuned pcm soon also.
 
alright now since i checked the waterpump it is completly fine. all i can do now is flush the system in case something is just clogged and then burp out the system.
 
I vote head gasket. Have the cooling system pressure checked. You can also pull the plugs and see if any look steam cleaned. That'll tell you at least which head gasket blew.

3.4 with no breathing mods and a tune is a recipe for disaster. when u smash a spark plug u will know why.... when u smash a plug that means u have chipped or shattered a piston.... ur sucking in more than the car can put out. things get hot and early detonation occurs... anywho not good. :th_nervous:
 
well i just finished working on it for the day, i am not going into the red anymore, since there was a stubborn air bubble and still have another day of burping out the system just to make sure i got all the air out.
 
Good....but its shouldnt even be as hard as your making it seem.

Heres what i do, fill up the radiator leave the cap off start up the car add more to the rad since it will suck it up on start up keep topping it off and squeezing the upper rad hose. while it warms up.......once you see the fluid starting to move or come out by itself open the air breather till you see fluid coming out.....then top it off and close the rad cap. Make sure the resevoir is filled up to and that the line to the resevoir is not clogged. Drive it around for a little get it hot then i like to do it for ****s and giggle oppen up the vent a little one more time but becareful only open it a tiny and see if any more air comes out....its gonna be a little harder to open.
 


after i checked the t stat the hoses, the waterpump , i replaced the gasket drained out the system, and burped it and now its purring. im happy that i can drive it again. and im putting a cat delete in and 3 " downpipe

skip the downpipe and put headers or plogs on the car. You engine is gunna thank you big for doing that. Headers already have a downpipe too so no need to buy one. Now that you have fixed the over heating problem please fix your MEGA flow issue's.

I blew a rad hose, and when I replaced it I did not know about the bleeder screw, and I had problems with the temp jumping up and down. after reading about it on this awsome site, I bled the line (many times) and it runs perfect now.

Ok honestly...I think the guy got the point from everyone's 99 "your car is gonna blow up" posts. I like to warn people but jeesus...guy said he was taking care of it...its his car. If he wants to beat the snot out of it with or without the right mods...not like your words on the internet are going to stop him...just saying.
