98 GTP Engine and Trans into 02 GT

Trans in the 02 is not doing so good, so I am planning on bringing the motor and trans from the other car over. What will need to be modified to make it work with the harness in the 02? Will the electrical connectors all bolt up to the 98 trans fine, or is it a better idea to use the wiring harness out of the 98. If so, how do you go about pulling that harness out? A large part of it goes into the firewall on the passenger side.
