98 Gp odd wistling sound

98 GP 3800 that just started making a whistling sound near the left rear tire. I'll also add that right after starting it up, I have a rough idol. While driving the whistling sound continues. When I stop the car and leave it in gear the idol is fine. Put it in park or neutral and the rough idol returns.

Am I guessing correctly that the fuel pump is going out? If so how difficult is it to replace it? If I am off what else could it be? Let me know if you need more info to help diagnosis the problem.

Is your SES light on?

check for vacuum leaks. check the lines intake manifolds you can use a little skirt bottle with some water, wd 40, break clean etc. spray it on all vacuum line connections and around the manifolds if you notice any change in your idle you found the leak just fallow the whistle

It is not.

Oddly enough the sounds stopped today before I do further investigation on the matter. To say the least I am completely stupified! But I plan on looking into this more.
