97 wiring in a 96 gtp

I have heard that I can swap a 97 Monte Carlo wiring harness into my 96 Gtp. My car has a 3.4 dohc, and the 97 monte harness i have came from a 3.4 Dohc as well. I'm wanting to do this because the 97 pcm has more tables for tuning and has performance shift mode. I also am swapping in a 4t65 trans.

I have been told i have to change some wires in the c100 plug in.I'm wanting a little more detail about the wires that have to be switch. I have went through all of the pinouts for both the 96 Gtp and the 97 Monte.

Are you sure you can't just program all this into the '96 PCM? They're both OBDII, and essentially the same physical PCM. Just like you can tune a '97 & up GP to have performance shift on/off all the time (the performance shift button was taken away from the factory after '00), I'd imagine you can do the same for the '96 PCM rather than having to swap wiring harnesses and PCMs.

Dammit. Somehow missed that part. Then I'd suggest asking on w-body.com. They're much more adept to swapping things around in Gen I w-bodies.
