97 GTP has hardly any power.

hey guys i find that my stock gtp with a ram air cold air has barly any power to squat the tires. like the tires do spin if u turn or something , but going straight from a dead stop theres a little squeek but not much. i know these 3800's are saposse to be able to burn the rubber going straight from a dead stop no problem. what can it be? when i floor it its like the rpm hold at around 2500 to 3000 for a split second then it goes. any sugestions>? i need my racing power back,
 


Sudbury as in Mass? If you want, cruise on over and I'll take a look at it.

Key things to consider:
Are you using super unleaded?
How old are your plugs?
What kind and brand of plugs are they?
Have you replaced your coils, if so..msd's?
How many engine codes do you have?
How long has the check engine light been flashing?
Do you beat it from every stop sign? If so..you have a serious case of TM pwning you.
 
Checked fuel regulator and all is well. I figuered out the problem with having to prime the pump. The line comming out of the fuel pump in the sending unit was kinked and soo i fixed it . Coil are stock with good spark . Ngk wires and plugs . I do beat on it at every stop sign but some days ill take it easy.. No engine codes. I change the cat making sure i wasent plugeed. Engine has 275000 km but she had balls last week. Soo i has to be something gone bad. No misfires either... Any sugestions?

NGK doesn't really tell us which plugs. TR55 triple platinum? You know our cars hate anything platinum right? They eat them up in maybe a month if you are lucky. Then it's KR city. Also check that the ends on the plugs aren't screwed on and loose.

Likely you are seeing a ton of knock.
 


All my vacum lines are fine too. Wat can it be? Im trying to think. Only thing i could think of next is the fuel filter or the thermostat .. Other wise im stumbled... Im gttn fuel, spark and cold air And my exhaust is good from cat back and i changed my o2 sensor.. Just took one off my old 3800 non superchaged.. Im clueless
 
Why would you check injectors, you don't have any problems according to your last three posts. Yeah, I'm being a little sarcastic because you dismissed the suggestions and yes, I pretty much know what's wrong with your car.

You say there's no misfire, how about knock retard? Your plugs can cause knock w/o causing misfires.

Your issue isn't going to be an injector.
 


knock (KR) as in its pulling and ungodly amount of timing to save the motor and keep you from going fast. You likely wont hear a thing, the computer does everything.
 
But my car does 0-60mph in less then 7 secs it just dont have torque to spin tires as much as it should have. U guys think it could be plugs? Ill check tonight if their platnium ngk's. I know i had two cylinders that warent fireing because of a bad coil pack . Well i had spark but not enough . U guys think those two plugs got fouled.? Because it was before the misfire i had all the power. And i rode with that misfire for a while And thats why i changed my cat cause it ended up getting plogged. Let me know urr opinion..
 


Your car ran poorly enough and long enough to kill the cat? I would definately be concerned about the plugs, pistons and a few other things. Since you know your 0-60 is 7 seconds, I need to ask ..is that 60kms or mph's? You mention the car has power but won't rip the tires.

Torque management is partially learned by the pcm. My stock pcm knew the moment the key went into the ignition what my plans were for it and TM kept me from doing much with the tires. This might be your only issue.
 
Mph. And soo wat u think it is.? How do i fix this. ? I know 97's had a different type of traction control if im right. I have a low trac indc. But i dont have a trac off button. How would i fix this TM issue? And yea ill check spark plugs.
 
Might be able to disconnect the battery to reset the computer. The TM system might have to relearn your driving style and it may let you beat on it again. Or, it won't change anything lol.
 
hey ok news update , as soon as i fire up the car and say i floor it it will burnn a huge patch , but it will only do it once after the car has completly cool down . after the first attempt of burnng the rubber it wont do it again. soo it pretty much only lets me do it for the first 30 seconds of it running after cooling off... does this make sence. and i will try to reset the pcm. , is it neg term off the batt for 30 mins a reset?
