97 GTP From Dallas

Hi, I'm from Dallas, got a 97 gtp for 2200. I loved it until it blew a head gasket 2nd day I had it.

It was a previous project car

Has 3.4" pulley with modular system
Intake
Headers
NIC cam
3" down pipe
SLP loudmouth exhaust
ZZP 1.0 pcm
TB spacer

Its been a nightmare cleaning things up..

Not so sure it blew a head gasket.. Might have just been a lower intake gasket.

Welcome!

And nice mod list. It's nice to see someone throw a cam at a 3.4 setup.

Well here is the deal..

The engine was recently rebuilt, but the guy put it back together himself, and seemed to have cut corners with gaskets and routing everything back.

It has a nasty oil leak possibly from the oil filter pick up gasket, or timing cover. Then it started developing a hissing/puffing sound and would smoke up from oil leakage on header on the back side of the engine at the firewall. Then the car would just stall out.

Got under the car and see coolant steadily dripping coolant off the oil pan. You can hear the compression shooting out of the gasket. Im pretty sure the guy didn't tq the heads correctly or damaged gaskets.

I will do a compression test to be certain, but I'm pretty sure it is.

This was very disappointing, this is my first car that has this much power and supercharger. I've owned Honda's and cars with no power.

Maybe its a sign I shouldn't have it lol

i will post pics when its worthy.

now i gotta find time to start taking the top of the engine apart.

need to rethread the bolt hole the EGR bolts to on the LIM, the guy stripped it out, so i have a vacuum leak there.

also the guy didnt reinstall the MAP sensor, had a code for MAP signal circuit low, so i went to inspect, and its not even there, hence my other post about vacuum routing.

i have that under control for when i put the engine back together, i will have to go to a GM dealership and order the T and L bend and the vacuum hard tubes and rubber tubes, right now its all hacked up.

all the AC vacuum hoses are disconnected as well as the EVAP system.

i was thinking about just deleting the EGR, but i have consulted with some instructors at UTI where i go to school at, and have been told without adjusting PCM parameters, it will cause KR bc the main job of the EGR is the cool the cylinders too keep NOx emissions down.

for those who are confused with exhaust cooling the cylinders... exhaust gas is "inert" it is a dead gas, it does not combust, less combustion = lower temps = lower NOx

and i dont get the people who just plug the exhaust part of it, your sucking in unmetered oxygen, which would give you a lean mixture.
